Men's B2 Report - By Steve Lakeman, B2 Manager.

Oxfordshire B2 11-16 Wiltshire B.
A break and dish against Ryan Wall in the first frame of the match was a start of a leg which Oxford B2 went 4-1 down, Sadly with a couple of missed blacks in that run as well, but then 3 straight wins put Oxford B2 back to 4-4, but Wiltshire B won the leg 5-4.

The 2nd leg also wasn't a great start but this time Ox B2 won the Leg 5-4. The 3rd leg started with a break and dish against Steve Lakeman, then things didn't get any better after that with Ox B2 losing that leg 7-2 and the match 16-11.

Tom Williams got 3/3, Sean Ling and Craig Coles got 2/3.

Ladies Report - By Nicki Hoskins, Ladies Captain.

Bristol 8 - 13 Oxfordshire.
The ladies team regained their fine form for the away match against Bristol. We won the first two legs 4-3, and rounded off the match with a comfortable 5-2 win in the 3rd leg. It was a full team performance with most players getting 2 out of 3, and a big thank you to Emma Penny-Larter for stepping in and playing fantastically well, getting 2 out of 3.

Youth 'B' Report - By Tim Crysell, Youth Manager.

Berkshire 16 - 5 Oxfordshire 'B'.
Oxfordshire Youth 'B' were unfortunately beaten again away to Berkshire. This was mainly due to missed chances, which I'm sure will go away when they get used to playing at county level. They lost the first leg 5-2, the second 6-1 and the third again 5-2. Keep trying boys and girls it will turn around. Good luck in your next match. Bigbossman

Youth 'B' Report - By Tim Crysell, Youth Manager.

Wiltshire Youth 9-12 Oxford Youth 'B'. Oxfordshire Youth 'B' team found their feet with a good win away to Wilthire despite losing the first set 4-3,though this could have been the other way round. It was in the second leg so going into the final leg it was 7 all. The youth 'B' side however showed a lot of courage in the last leg to win it 5-2 and obtain their first win 12-9. Two lads got 3/3; they were Kenny Broster and Daniel Stockwell. Well done Boys and Girls as i'm sure you can win more now you have that first win. BIGBOSSMAN.

Men's 'A' Team Report - By J Kinsey, Manager.

West Berks 15-12 Oxford. This was an important fixture for the A side and again we didn't turn up. A slow match on a single 'Alpine' table led to a very low standard encounter. The only plus point was the return of Marcus Guise, joining Jamey Street, Matty Challen and Malcolm Lewis with 2 from 3.

Ladies' Team Report - By Nicki Hoskins, Captain.

West Berkshire 11-10 Oxfordshire. The ladies match against West Berkshire has always been very close, with not only the scoreline being close, but every frame. This match was no different, with every leg ending 4-3, and every frame could have gone either way. Unfortunately West Berkshire won two of the legs with Oxfordshire getting the final leg, resulting in a 11-10 loss for Oxfordshire. However, with a +17 frame difference from our first 3 matches, we are still looking good!

Youth 'A' & 'B' Report - By Tim Crysell, Youth Manager.

Oxford Youth 'A' 16-5 Oxford Youth 'B'. The two Oxfordshire youth sides met for the second time this season witht he youth B side telling the A side it wouldn't be as easy as last time! I think they wished they hadn't said a thing with the A side winning the first leg 7-0!

The next leg they did get on the board however, with wins from Daniel Stockwell, Elliot Hooper and Thomas Gaughan, but Oxfordshire A won the leg 4-3, winning the match with one leg to spare! In the last leg, again Thomas Gaughan won, as well as young starlet Megan Watson to make the final score 16-5.

Men's 'B2' Team Report - By S Lakeman, B2 Manager.

Hampshire 'B' 14-13 Oxford 'B2'. A Hampshire B team which had beaten the B1 team 16-11 only a few weeks back were going to be very hard opponents for the B2's. Playing on three tables, a good start was made with wins from Ryan Wall and Craig Coles. Sean Ling lost a very long 1st frame which became part of Oxford B2's losing streak of five on the trot. Andrew Gee and Steve Lakeman won the last two frames to make the Leg score 5-4. The 2nd leg started well with Ryan Wall winning backed up with wins for Yousif Shahab, Malc Lewis, Kenny Saunders and Dave Lakeman. Sadly Steve Lakeman and Craig Coles missed half chances to turn it into a great Leg but the leg was won 5-4.

So the 3rd leg started at 9-9 but the first four out of five frames were lost with Yousif being the only winner in this run which made it a up hill task to win the match being 13-10 down. However, wins from Andrew Gee and Malc Lewis made it 13-12. Dave Lakeman then lost to the Hampshire Captain before Steve Lakeman won the last leg of the match. A good effort only losing 14-13, with 2/3 for Ryan, Malc, Andrew, Yousif & Steve.

Ladies' Team Report - By Nicki Hoskins, Captain.

Berkshire 5-16 Oxfordshire. Oxfordshire ladies continued their good form with a storming 15-6 win over Berkshire ladies. We started as we meant to go on with a 5-3 win in the first leg, with wins coming from Shelley White, Jaz Venning, Jane Carpenter, Stephanie Miedinger and Nicki Hoskins. We continued in fine form, also winning the second leg 5-2 with wins from the same five players!

With only needing one frame to win going into the third leg we were confident! At 6-0 up, including a win from Rachael Featherstone on her debut match, it looked like we were going to get an elusive 7-0 leg. Things weren't to be however as Jane Carpenter was unlucky to lose the final frame to Berkshire captain Kate Reeves. Three frames out of three were attained by current England players Shelley White and Jaz Venning, as well as recent England qualifiers Nicki Hoskins and Stephanie Meidinger.

Oxford 'A' 13-14 Hants 'A'. Another result that is hard to take!! One look at the Hampshire team sheet showed what a difficult match this was going to be. All three legs went 5-4 one way or the other. A see-saw first leg was edged by Hants. Matthew Challen levelled immedietely in the second leg with another break and dish to match his one in the first leg. Sadly, Oxford lost the next four before John Kinsey, Lee Brown-John, Jamie Street & Nathan Ball ensured the second leg finished 9-9.

Matty missed the black in the third that would have meant 3 break and dishes but still won the frame. A very cool Adam Brown won to cement Oxford's lead; Shaun Taylor then won a great frame to really put Oxford in the driving seat at 12-9. However, Hampshire responded very well and won four on the trot in quick succession. Lee Brown-John however ensured a decider with a dish off his opponent's break to make it 13-13. A tight decider went Hampshire's way to consign Oxford to their second deciding frame defeat. A good match; just shame about the result!!

Ladies' Team Report - By Nicki Hoskins, Captain.

Oxford 14-7 Hants. Oxfordshire ladies got off to a brilliant start to their season with a fantastic 14-7 win over a strong Hampshire side. Shelley White started proceedings with a 45-minute long frame with some excellent safety shots, which she eventually won! Jaz Venning was unlucky to pot the black early in her first frame, making the second frame of the match decidedly shorter! There were then wins from Lauren Thomas, Stephanie Meidinger, Jane Carpenter and Nicki Hoskins, with Shelly James being unlucky to lose to Cath King, making the first leg a 5-2 win for Oxfordshire.

The second leg wasn't quite as strong, with wins from Jaz Venning, Lauren Thomas and Nicki Hoskins, making the overall score 8-6. We went into the final leg with renewed vigour however, needing only 3 frames to win but getting 6 out of the last 7! Lauren was unlucky to go in-off her free shot, leaving an easy black for her opponent, and Jaz did well to win after a slight lapse in memory thinking she was red when in fact she was yellow! Overall it was a great performance from all Oxfordshire players and a fantastic first result. Hopefully the start of things to come!

Youth 'A' & 'B' Report - By Tim Crysell, Youth Manager.

Oxford Youth 'A' 17-4 Oxford Youth 'B'. Oxfords two youth teams met for the first time and what a scare the B side gave the A side in the first seven with the B team taking 3 out of the first 4. However the A side won the set 4-3. In the second and third sets the Youth A found their true form and apart from one loss from Kenny Broster, the A side took the next two sets 13-1 making the final result 17-4. Three boys Luke Ingram, Tom Hooper, Peter DeBanks all got 3/3. Well done.

Men's 'B1' & 'B2' Team Report - By S Lakeman, B2 Manager.

Oxford 'B1'16-11 Oxford 'B2'. A very bad start to a tough match playing a very strong Oxford B1 side cost the B2's. The 1st leg flashed by with only 2 wins for the B2's; Kenny Saunders breaking and dishing playing Keith Hollis and Dave Lakeman winning the last match. 2-7 down. The 2nd leg started off better with wins for Sean Ling and Andrew Gee, but only 2 more wins from Graham Hornblow and Dave Lakeman meant the leg was lost 5-4 and now 6-12 down. The 3rd leg got off to a better start winning 4/5 frames with wins from Andrew Gee, Yousif Shahab, Will Cooper and Graham Hornblow. The fight back was then finished when Keith Hollis won it for the B1 side. Kenny Saunders won another frame before John Street brok and dished against Dave Lakeman to finish the last leg 5-4 but final score was 16-11.

Men's 'A' Team Report - By J Kinsey, Manager.

Berks 'A' 14-13 Oxford 'A'. After what was a disasterous Nationals, Oxford was looking for the perfect start to the season. With some new faces in the team, Oxford were hopefull. No sooner had we started though, we were 3-0 down. Stopping the rot was debutant Shaun Taylor and Ash Fletcher. 3-2. John Kinsey completed the recovery for 3-3. Unfortunately that was the last win of the leg. 3-6 down. The second started no better losing the first three. 9-3 down. However, as usual it takes a terible situation to wake Oxford up. Ash Fletcher started a recovery backed up by Jimmy Cairns, debutant Adam Brown, John Kinsey, Pete Maconochie and Lee Brown-John. 9-9. Oxford again was sloppy at the top of the third leg. 9-11 down. Ash Fletcher once again repaired the situation before an excellent frame from Adam Brown brought it back to 11-11. Once again Oxford spurned chances to go 11-13 down before Shaun Taylor stepped up and showed the rest how to do it. Lee then won a tense 26th frame. 13-13. Unfortunately John Kinsey failed to win the decider and Oxford left empty handed. However, the performances of Oxfords latest recruits was extremely encouraging, and if some of the old guard start to actually support them, Oxford is set for another good season.
